In regards to the many requests we received in recent days we advise you of the following:
First of all, the 100km del Passatore is a foot race and will only remain so if there is respect for those who run/walk, or at least for those who try to make it to the end of the “world’s most beautiful race”.
In recent years, due to the heavy traffic that follows the runners, some areas of the course have had difficulties and specifically there was a lack of respect for the athletes.
Often common sense was not practiced and therefore the organizers together with the competent authorities are trying to find solutions that create the least inconvenience for the athletes in order to allow them to experience the race in the best manner possible and in total safety.
The organizers of the support services set up the fine number of 21 well equipped rest stations, three buses for the intermediate destinations and different destinations for the clothing and shuttle services for athletes who retire.
For this reason we believe that assistance by vehicles following athletes is not necessary, as well as being forbidden.
As announced a few months ago, we advise that the checks and penalties will be for those that do not respect the regulations as set out by FIDAL and by “common sense” will be increased.
Specifically:
- It is absolutely forbidden for athletes to climb aboard any car or vehicle and the transportation of any participant by third parties is strictly prohibited. The violation of this regulation will result in the immediate disqualification of the participant;
- Participants are forbidden from receiving any assistance (excluding medical and/or physiotherapy Treatment) outside the authorized areas (usually rest stops or medical stations). Violation of this regulation will result in the disqualification of the participant;
- Vehicles are not allowed to follow athletes and assistance is forbidden outside the authorized areas (usually rest stops or medical stations), THIS SECTION OF ROAD HAS BEEN DECLARED AS A NO STOP AND PARKING ZONE FOR VEHICLES, The personnel of the Local Police authorities will be present to ensure that these restrictions are respected.
WE REMIND EVERYONE THAT THE BEAUTY OF THIS RACE WILL BE MAINTAINED ONLY IF EVERYONE RESPECTS THE REGULATIONS
