RAZZUOLO

Razzuolo – km 44,1 – Refreshment N° 10

As we near the Passo della Colla we see the small town of Razzuolo in the middle of a gully almost closed in by rugged hills, but which strangely enough embraces a small Badia dedicated to Saint Paul (San Paolo) which is said to have been founded in 1035 by Saint Giovanni Gualberto before he reached the woods of the Vallombrosa to found the monumental Abbey which bears his name. Razzuolo, a small gathering of small dwellings of bricks and stone, is inhabited by generations of woodcutters, charcoal burners, laborers and farmers has left an indelible mark in the history of the Mugello for the harshness of the life that made its poor, miserable families pay a heavy price for its food.
