More than 1,250 enrolments less than 100 days from the 2014 “PASSATORE”
Including more than 150 women and more than 40 athletes from 18 different countries
The organization for the 42nd 100 KM del Passatore (24-25 May, 2014) continues with the traditional great commitment and its customary passion. In fact, the namesake Sporting Association is working virtually fulltime to mount the world’s most famous ultra marathon with its traditional partner organizations (the Romagna Wine Consortium, Society of the Passatore, UOEI and ADMO), the FIDAL, and the local councils of Florence, Faenza, Fiesole, Borgo San Lorenzo, Marradi, Brisighella. As well as with the support of its business partners (Banca di Romagna, Banca CR Firenze, Fondazione Banca del Monte Cassa di Risparmio, Antarex, Friliver-Bracco, Coop Adriatico, Gruppo Hera, Ctf, Moreno Motor Company, Decathlon and Natura Nuova) and its technical sponsor Saucony.
Less than 100 days from the start in Florence on May 24, 2014 the enrolments have already exceeded 1,250, which include 148 women and a few more than 40 foreign athletes from 18 different countries (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Israel, Netherlands, Rumania, Russia, San Marina, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland). There will also be dozens of “Nordic walkers” who on the day will contest the third national Italian title of the specialty under the auspices of the CSEN.
Naturally there are ongoing contacts with the best Italian and European ultra marathon athletes. As we wait for the definitive enrolments we wish to point out the runners from Romagna including Marco Serasini from Brisighella (4th in 2013), Massimo Poggiolini from Tredozio (7th), Massimo Tramacere from Forlimpopoli(15th). Other Italian athletes include Silvano Beatrici from the Trento Region (5th) and Enrico Bartolini from Limiti sull’Arno in Tuscany(16th in 2012). In addition we must make mention of race veterans Walter Fagnani (40 editions finished) who last year finished in 1,362nd position with a time of 17h52’59.4” who at the venerable age of 89 will participate in his 41st edition (of the 42 run) and Natalina Masiero from Padua (with 41 races finished) who last year finished in 779th position (78th amongst the women).
As well as being one of the most important sections of the 2014 IUTA Grand Prix the “100” will again be the third stage of the Romagna Triple which also includes the Lamone Marathon organized by the Lamone Sporting Group of Russi (Ravenna) on April 9th next and the 50 KM of Romagna organized by the Podistica Avis of Castel Bolognese (Ravenna) on the following April 25th.
It will be possible for athletes to enroll for the “Passatore” continue until mid May. The enrolment fee for those who enroll before April 20, 2014 is € 65.00, whereas those who enroll between April 21 and May 15, 2014 (close of enrolments) will have to pay a fee of € 85.00.
